Current Situation

The building stands above the platform of Waverley Station and is held up by a huge structure with around twelve meter spare space between building and platform. Moreover, the building is close to the walkway, which link Waverley Station and Market Street. Owing to the crucial location and distinctive characteristics of the building, many possibilities are revealed. For that reason, my design scope will expand from the building to the spare space underneath the building and also the gap between the walkway and itself.

I selected an area, Waverley Station, and a building, which is intimately related to it, to conduct my research and design. The existing building, which currently used as the Fruitmarket Gallery, is situated along Waverley Station, the heart of Edinburgh.
